This piece is a proper mid-century modern wood, Formica and metal plant stand with a kidney-shaped base, tapered legs and five hovering platforms. The wood is likely walnut given the weight. Wood supports are deeply curved, and have been bent using at least three pieces, check out the detailed photos.
The platforms are bright red, pale yellow and robin-egg blue. The base is a black and white cross-hatch pattern - the whole thing is incredibly emblematic of the 1950's.
Condition: Seriously incredible. I've never seen one of this size and this old in this great of condition. Some very minor wear to the wood curved arms where they attach to the base. See photos. When I bought it the dealer called it "museum quality" but that doesn't mean much to me personally, considering museums have items much more beat up than this one in collections.
Note on shipping - this will be disassembled for shipping. It's really easy to put back together, quite ingenious and simple actually with winged nuts throughout. It's never been glued, and all the original hardware is included.
Makers Mark: Label on the bottom reads: "International Art Transport, 60 Rue Saint-Sabin 75011 Paris 806-50-50". Then, in handwritten script I believe it says "Roggendorf" and if it does, that is a town in Germany. I believe this was imported from France to Germany at a certain point, perhaps made in France. And here, I imported it to the USA from Poland!
